🎶 This land was made for you and me 🎶
This was the sound coming from students in Miss Magallanes' 2nd grade classroom today! They're learning about the beautiful mosaic of people formed by the American citizens! Yesterday, they even created their OWN beautiful mosaics in class in preparation for this lesson! Great job, Miss M and students! What a fun lesson about this beautiful nation!

Washington's 4th Graders are growing their BRAINS and had a special visitor today from the Nebraska Soybean Board.
They learned that soybeans are often called the “miracle crop” because they are the world’s leading provider of protein and oil. Thousands of soy products are available to consumers—everything from A to Z. The Nebraska Soybean Board presentation creates awareness of soybeans' nutritional and environmental benefits. Today, our 4th graders enjoyed an interactive presentation followed up with Soybeans A-Z: Use Your Bean game.
Check out Facebook comments for bonus videos.

✵Mr. Rogers once said, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'"
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and I think this is a fitting quote to consider when we talk about child abuse. Yes, there are folks out there who do harm but there are ALWAYS good people willing to help!
Our Wildcats are learning how to keep safe and know who their trusted adults are if they need help. We have a lot of good people!✵

Are you smarter than a 2nd grader?! Mrs. Mortimer's 2nd graders celebrated National Schwa Day yesterday and Mrs. Simmons had to GOOGLE what that meant!! If you're interested, Google away! And check Facebook comments for a bonus video!
Mrs. Mortimer says "the Schwa is such a tricky spelling! But these 2nd graders worked hard on not being fooled. These spelling spoilers are no trouble at all if you know a few rules. Yesterday was National Schwa Day, so they couldn't let it pass without some schwa fun! They wore pajamas, and parents kindly supplied items for banana splits and sodas. It was a fun celebration!"

HAL Update! Our March meeting had us catching "March Madness"! We constructed basketball hoops, and had to sink as many shots as possible in a row. Keep a look out for our April up-cycle project!

Beautiful Nebraska!! Washington's 4th grade has been working on their map skills with this GIANT map of Nebraska. They've discussed elevation, rivers & tributaries, watershed, population, distance between cities, cardinal directions, angles, and map features. They've had a blast and even discovered how bright the room gets when the GIANT map is open.
Way to make learning fun, Mrs. McIntosh & Mrs. McNeel!!
