The first few weeks of preschool have gone fast! We have been really working on getting use to our routine in the classroom. We have been focusing on identifying our emotions and why we feel the way we do. We have also been learning how to be respectful, responsible, and safe in the classroom. We have been doing an amazing job!

No students or staff were threatened. Local school and law enforcement worked collaboratively through the situation.

Good afternoon Jefferson Families! It was AWESOME to se so many of you last night. We are very excited to get the school year off to a great start. We have many new staff and many returning staff. Everyone is excited for tomorrow.
A few things as we begin the school year:
Project Kindergaten:
Tomorrow and Friday, Kindergarten students will begin at 8:00 and end the day at 2:00. Remember that only half of the students come tomorrow, the other half on Friday. Friday afternoon they will be split into their classes and all will come on Monday.
Drop-off/Pick-up:
Kindergarten: you may bring into the building tomorrow either through the front door (2nd Street); The PE door Southeast door oof of the East playground; or though the Drive-Thru door coming off of 3rd Street. We ask for drop-off tomorrow that if you choose to come in from the drive-thru door that you find a place to park on the street so you don't block the drive-thru for others.
ALL 1st-5th Grade students should report to the East Playground for Walking Club. We have staff out there on the blacktop beginning at 7:30. The first bell will ring at 7:45 for K/1 students to come into the building for breakfast (beginning Monday for Kindergarten). The next bell rings at 7:55 and teachers will meet their classes on the playground and bring them in. The next bell rings at 8:00am. The last bell (The Tardy Bell) rings at 8:05am. Any student arriving at 8:00 or later must come to th front door for entry. Any student arriving after 8:05am will be counted tardy.
Pick-up: At the end of the day (3:20pm) Kindergarten and 1st Grade students are dismissed from the drive-thru door off of 3rd Street. The first few days we will be backed up as we learn who goes in what vehicles. Please be safe and be PATIENT! It will not take long and we will have the process down to 7 minutes or less.
2nd Grade students are dismissed out front of Jefferson on 3rd Street.
3rd Grade students are dismissed out of the west end of the building and will move to the corner of 3rd Street and Cottonwood Street.
4th & 5th Grade students dismiss out of the south side of the building and will move to the corner of 2nd Street and Cottonwood Street.
After 3:30, any student whom has not been picked up will be moved to the front doors off of 3rd Street.
All corners have staff that will help students cross the streets safely. We need your help to look out for staff and students, look out for each other, and, again, be patient.
For same family students in different grades, we will try to accommodate you to have one pick-up area. Please contact the office (308) 535-7136, to arrange that pick-up location if you have not already done so. We would like to have the same routine for the students, so please do not expect to change your location up daily.
Family Communication:
Our District has chosen to use the "Rooms" platform which you can sign up for in the NPPSD app. Please download the app onto your device. you will get notifications from teachers to join their rooms.
Room Assignments:
We had a few requests to have students move to a different classroom. At this time we are not going to switch students as we are still getting new enrollments and staff have been preparing for their current rosters. We take all request seriously and will keep all students interests at heart.
As always, you may contact me at school: (308) 535-7136; jellsworth@nppsd.org; or stop in. Please call ahead before stopping in and make an appointment. I am typically available from 7:30-8:00am; 8:30-10:30am; 1:30-3:00pm; or after 4:00pm. I look forward to a great school year and providing the best education for your students here at Jefferson Elementary School.
Mr. Jeff Ellsworth, Principal (Mr. E)

We are sharing two great ways to select your student's supplies for the 2023-2024 school year. Option one is to shop online. Option two allows you to download the supply list and shop traditionally.
