Greetings, Jefferson Students and Families!
It's September! We are through our first month of school. I am so impressed with learning that is already happening. I saw some great characters from Fairy Tales in 2nd grade, tried Agave with 4th grade and saw some great Math thinking!
We are focused on Literacy this year. We have some great opportunities to showcase students and families reading. Here are some strategies to support Literacy at home: - Set up a daily time to read as a family. You don't have to read books, you can read manuals or even cookbooks.
- Visit the Public Library - it's free!
- After reading a book, you can ask some simple questions:
- pick a few key words and discuss their meaning
- questions about the story
- discuss the characters
- predict what might happen next
- if applicable, talk about the theme of the story
Mrs. Fleck and I love meeting families of our Jefferson learners. We are a team and together we are ensuring that our learners have a great experience.
We are off to a great start! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Educationally, Dr. Tami Eshleman |

North Platte Public Schools believes in the importance of children being in school. Jefferson Elementary will be monitoring building, grade, classroom, and individual student's attendance. We are gifted with prizes for students who maintain less than Five or More Absences. We also recognize students with Perfect Attendance. This year we are monitoring our Monthly Absences by Grade, please make sure your students are coming to school.
If your child will not be in school, please call the office before 8:00am. If students are seen by a medical professional, please provide a note to the office. Students who miss more than 10 days are required to have an Attendance Meeting with Principal and Parents. As required by state statute, student who are chronically absent will have a referral sent to the County Attorney.
Students who have a temperature above 100* will be sent home and will not be able to return until they have been fever free for 24 hours. |

North Platte Public Schools works collaboratively with families to ensure that students are in school. Jefferson August Attendance was 96%. This percentage will go up once we are done processing students who no longer attend Jefferson.. We strive to be above 95% as a school. If your family is facing barriers to get your child to school, please don't hesitate to reach out to Dr. Eshleman, Mrs. Fleck, or Mrs. Hahn so that we can get you in touch with community resources to help. |

Jefferson Elementary participates in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). CEP schools provide free breakfast and lunch to schools. We are fortunate to provide this resource to families. If students bring their own lunch and want to buy a milk, they must bring $0.50. Some students want to have a second entrée, parents would have to provide funds for additional entrées.
