News from Dr. EHappy Fall Y'All! The leaves are changing and the weather is cooling down! It is beautiful to see the changes through the seasons. We have completed our first quarter and are looking to finish our semester strong. Thank you to everyone who attended Parent Teacher Conferences. One of my phrases is, "Parents are Partners." At Cody, we welcome the opportunity to work with families throughout the year. While we are three months into the school year, routines are just as important now as they were in August. One of the best gifts that parents can give students is routines and boundaries. It is okay to say no. Children don't always believe the first no, they know if you mean it. Bedtime and morning routines are very important to support a child's learning. A strong bedtime routine involves taking away distractions such as tablets, cell phones, and video games. Brains need rest to grow. There are many resources available to families for free. Check out these two resources: Boys Town Parenting Guides (I have listed a few of the topics below from the website. Parenting can be difficult but there are resources available. You are not alone and don't be afraid to reach out for help.) - How to Give Clear Instructions to Children
- How to Get Your Child to Listen and Follow Directions
- How to Stop Bickering Between Two Brothers
Common Sense Media (This resource is amazing and gives reviews for movies, games, books, apps, tv shows, etc. I love the Parent Tips and FAQs as it breaks down by age group.) - The next image is one of the articles for parents - quick and simple guidance for families.
Remember - saying no doesn't mean I don't love you, it says I care enough about you to set boundaries and set you up for success. They are little for such a short amount of time, let them be little.
Educationally, Dr. Tami Eshleman |

Cody Elementary Breakfast, Lunch and SnackCody Elementary participated in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). CEP schools provide free breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks to schools. We are fortunate to provide this resource to families. If students bring their own lunch and want to buy a milk, they must bring $0.50. Some students want to have a second entrée, parents would have to provide funds for additional entrées. We are excited to have the Salad Bar back at Cody. The Salad Bar has several options for students to get fresh fruits and vegetables. Here is the link to the Sodexo Website for North Platte Public School |
