NO SCHOOL NOVEMBER 22nd & 23rd, 2021.
During the past two school years, the Commissioner of Education has approved district-level flexibility with instructional hours. Districts are to utilize this flexibility for additional professional learning, teacher and/or staff work time, or teachers to consult with parents/caregivers, home visits, and the extra time needed to clean between sessions.
Due to the substitute shortage, NPPS teachers and principals have been covering classes due to the need for substitute teachers. NPPS teachers and principals have put extra time covering teachers' classrooms when substitute teachers are unavailable. Covering additional classrooms has created a need for teachers, staff, and administration to complete/ catch up on duties that have been set aside to meet immediate student needs.
Due to the aforementioned concerns, NPPS is adjusting the district calendar to provide teachers with a workday and deep cleaning in all facilities on November 22 and 23, 2021.
Students will not attend school on November 22 & 23. Students will return to school on Monday, November 29, 2021, following the Thanksgiving holiday.
Please connect with the West Central District Health Department if you or your student would like to receive the COVID-19, Flu vaccine, or other immunizations during this break. They ask that you complete the registration form at https://vaccinate.ne.gov/en-US/.
Please enjoy your Thanksgiving break,
Dr. Ron Hanson,
NPPS Superintendent
