North Platte, Neb. – June 24, 2021, marked the end of the 2021 NPPS Summer Meal Distribution Program at Adams Middle School. NPPS food services had hosted the summer program each Thursday in June, allowing families to pick up 7 days’ worth of meals for children age one to eighteen.
Diane Heine, Director of Food Services stated, “we distributed 9,775 breakfasts and 9,775 lunches for a grand total of 19,550 meals to community children.” The summer meal program is financed through federal funds and is hosted through NPPS and Sodexo School Services. Mrs. Heine went on to add, “it is a pleasure to provide nutritious meals to our community’s youth throughout June.”
North Platte Public schools will continue to host mobile food pantries in July and August for anyone interested in participating.
