FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NPHS THEATRE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS
AFTER THE WAR

NORTH PLATTE, NE, November 25, 2025 -- North Platte High School’s Theatre Department will present their competition one act production, After the War, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at the NPHS Performing Arts Center.

Exclusively adapted from the award winning middle grade book by British author, Tom Palmer, After the War tells the story of Yossi and his friends Mordecai and Leo as they navigate life after the liberation of the concentration camps at the end of World War II. Senior Henry Cline, who plays Yossi says, “Some stories need telling and this is one of them. Rehearsing and performing this show has given the cast the chance to both put on a deep and meaningful story, but also to stay in touch with history and keep an important message alive.”

Based on true events and stories from survivors, this play is not one to miss. “Everyone knows the horrors of the holocaust, but no one takes a moment to learn about what happened once the camps were liberated. The atrocities that occurred in the camp continued to haunt the survivors until their dying breaths.” says student Isabell Frazier, who plays Yossi’s mother in the show.

McDaniel, along with Assistant Director Nicole Cepel and over 50 students serving as cast and crew have been hard at work on the show since the first week of October. Junior, Katelynn McNeel says, “The process and rehearsal for this show has been really interesting. I have learned so much from these stories while also building my own to tell and deliver this impactful message.” Brett Pfeifer, who plays Leo in the show, states, “This show is special, not in just what the story is, but the way that it is told. We have a crazy talented cast this year, everyone is so involved in every moment. That’s what makes it so good. A talented group of people coming together to tell an important story.” The team have competed/performed at workshops and invitationals throughout November, winning multiple awards. They will compete against nine other schools in Fremont for a chance to take their show to the state competition in Norfolk..

A free will donation will be taken at the door to help cover travel costs for the team and the doors open at 6:30 p.m for the 7:00 p.m. show.
