Every seven years, the Nebraska Department of Education adopts new content
area standards. This cycle was recently completed in the area of Math. The
curriculum development process of North Platte Public Schools follows this
revision timeline. Therefore, our math curriculum writing teams are in the process
of adopting high-quality instructional materials that align with the revised
standards.
At various times throughout this semester, NPPS teachers will be field-testing
new math materials. All instruction is aligned to Nebraska State Standards;
however, with new materials, some of the work completed in class may look
different than in the past. We want to ensure that our students have the
opportunity to experience new and enhanced teaching and learning practices.
We are excited to provide new strategies and materials to our students and staff.
Full implementation of new resources will occur during the 2024-25 school year.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Director of
Elementary Teaching & Learning, Lyndsey Douglas, or the Director of Secondary
Teaching & Learning, Vikki Carlson, at The McKinley Education Center.
