Request to Attend

North Platte Public School District Request to Attend (RTA) another school

A student enrolled in the North Platte Public School District (NPPSD) is expected to attend the school assigned to their address.

Directions: School regulations require completing a request before consideration is given to assigning a student to an attendance area other than the student’s home school. Parents/guardians (s) submitting this form understand that the school will not be responsible for transportation if this request is approved. Transfer requests should be considered permanent building assignments when approved.

Consideration is given to requests that alleviate severe family hardships

Applications for the next school year are to be submitted between February 15- March 15 of each year. We will make every effort to notify parents/guardians and students of the decision regarding their request by June 1.  Requests made after March 15 will be accepted ONLY if the student is a new resident of NPPSD or there is an emergency event that could not be foreseen prior to this date. Documentation supporting this situation must be supplied.  Students awaiting a decision on a request MUST attend their assigned school until a final decision is made.

What happens to my request after it is submitted?

After residency verification and signature by the principal of your home school, your request is forwarded to the NPPSD Cabinet Team, which receives 50-120 requests each year.  The Cabinet will complete an investigation prior to making a decision.

When will I hear whether my request has been approved or denied?

NPPSD’s Cabinet will make every effort to notify parents/guardians and students by mail no later than June 1

Completing this form does NOT guarantee that a student will be moved to the requested building.
